Guests start in the unsettling Biolux showrooms, only to uncover grisly secrets in the Biolux labs, full of gruesome experiments and maniacal scientists then, explore rooms and haunting displays in the survivor camps, as the last of humanity struggles in a doomed battle against the zombie apocalypse. Toronto’s newest and largest zombie themed haunted house invites patrons to enter the world of fictional pharmaceutical giant, Biolux and its new wonder drug: the Biolux Serum, a purported solution to aging and disease, which renders subjects into cannibalizing contagious zombies.

New this year is an immersive experience created in partnership with Secret City Adventures – overseers of the fan favourite, the Casa Loma Escape Series – called Zombie Apocalypse. A crescendo of the production is the 3D projection on the exterior of the castle which brings the characters of the storyline and the walls of the castle to life. The traditional set change does not exist but is created by having the audience move on to the next scene. Each of these introducing characters in the environmental theatre, in which the physical location, rather than being a traditional playhouse, creates the actual setting. Throughout the over 1 hour experience, the audience is immersed in a variety of theatrically designed sets in gardens and chambers below the castle. Done in the presentational form considered “promenade theatre”, in which the audience walks at their own pace through a 2 km trail commencing in the lower gardens of Casa Loma and winding its way through the castles tunnels and darkest spaces never before open to the public.
This October, the grounds of Casa Loma will once again be transformed into an immersive theatrical experience, Legends of Horror. For a finishing touch, the plastic bullet belt fastens with Hook and Loop fastener and can be worn around the waist or shoulder.LEGENDS OF HORROR RETURNS TO CASA LOMA THIS OCTOBER The axe sheath is shaped like a zombie head and is attached to a plastic belt. Now for the fun stuff – this costume comes with a plastic axed with fake blood and a ‘kill count’ carved into the handle. The signature hat is made of a khaki polyfoam and has an elastic cord. The knee-length trench coat has a tattered hem and sleeves.
